Brașov lies at the foot of Mount Tâmpa, on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia, and was the richest trading town of the Saxons. The Black Church, so named after the fire of 1689, is the largest Gothic church between Vienna and Istanbul; its collection of Anatolian carpets came from merchants of the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Council Square with the Old Town Hall, the walls with the Black and White Towers and the Șchei quarter behind Catherine’s Gate can be seen on foot in two hours.
Day trip with Bran and Prejmer, about 10 hours.
