The Gothic choir still serves as the Lutheran church, the nave stands as a ruin in the churchyard, with gravestones of German soldiers from the First World War.
From Cârța it is 15 minutes to the Albota trout farm and an hour over the Transfăgărășan road to Bâlea Lake.
